MY MED-TECH BACKGROUND

▸ Medical: intensivist & clinical pharmacologist

I am a medical specialist with a background in internal medicine (i.e. internist) and further specialization in both critical care (i.e. intensivist) and clinical pharmacology (i.e. clinical pharmacologist).

I am also trained as a forensic physician, which is a whole ‘nother story 😉

▸ Technical: AI PhD candidate, AI consultant & Biomedical engineer

I have a bachelor’s and master’s degree in biomedical engineering, specialized in image and signal analysis. I am proficient in data science and machine learning techniques with Python, and am currently pursuing a PhD in AI. Find my publications here! 😁

I have also offered my services as a medical AI advisor at a really cool AI startup 😎 And I am responsible for creating the vision and strategy on AI in a large teaching hospital in The Netherlands.

Current services I provide:

As a public speaker I give engaging lectures on artificial intelligence in healthcare. Additionally, I provide these in group sessions or as consultancy services. Topics vary from the basics of AI to the hurdles we face in healthcare with regard to AI implementation, such as:

• The potential of Generative AI for healthcare. You've heard about Large Language Models and are curious what this could mean for your profession as a healthcare provider, or your hospital as a manager or the future of healthcare as a patient? I'll give you a comprehensive yet concise overview on what to expect. This session is especially useful if you have limited knowledge and don't know where to start.

• AI basics for healthcare professionals. are you overwhelmed with all the information on AI but feel you don’t have a real grasp of what it is and its potential in healthcare? I’ll explain you the basics concepts of AI with a medical twist. Aimed at healthcare professionals with little prior knowledge of AI.

• AI readiness for hospital managers. AI is coming to healthcare, but how do you prepare your hospital and your staff? I will give you an overview of which basics elements for successful AI implementation are needed and I will give you tips on how to achieve this in your own hospital. This session is mainly focused on the technical and organizational aspects of AI implementation.

• Responsible AI implementation in healthcare. AI is coming to healthcare, but how do you prepare your hospital and your staff? I will give you an overview of which basics elements for successful AI implementation are needed and I will give you tips on how to achieve this in your own hospital. This session is mainly focused on the "softer side" of AI implementation, focusing on the pillars of adoption, such as trust, ethical use, bias mitigation, etc.
